How Trev Preserves Document Formatting
Trev is designed to maintain your document's original formatting through the translation process.
What We Preserve
- Text Formatting - Bold, italic, underline, strikethrough
- Paragraph Styles - Headings, body text, lists
- Document Structure - Sections, page breaks, columns
- Tables - Cell structure and basic formatting
- Images - Position and size (not translated)
- Headers/Footers - Content and positioning
Best Formats for Preservation
- DOCX - Best formatting retention
- XLIFF - Designed for translation
- SRT/VTT - Maintains timing perfectly
- JSON/XML - Structure preserved
Formatting Limitations
- PDF - May lose complex layouts
- Custom Fonts - May default to standard fonts
- Macros - Not preserved
- Embedded Objects - May be flattened
Tips for Best Results
- Use standard fonts
- Keep layouts simple
- Use built-in styles
- Test with a sample first
- Avoid text in images
Post-Translation
- Review formatting
- Adjust text expansion/contraction
- Check special characters
- Verify links still work
